NYE006

2006 has been a year of mixed feelings, new encounters, re-encounters with good old friends
and thousands of new miles traveled with their respective images.

I will never thank people enough for their support and inconditional friendship.
I feel incredibly lucky for being where I am, doing what I do.

2006 was for me a year of amazing growth, introspection and enlightenment but also a year that reminded me of the importance of the present. While keeping an eye on the future it is critical to keep your feet in the present and enjoy the “here and now”.

Something I often think about is the concept of “future”.
Technically, we’re living in yesterday’s future. We already have heliodisplays and wireless, instant communication with the rest of the planet.
Nanotech, something you’ll be hearing of A LOT in the immediate future was considered science fiction half a century ago and we already have disinfectants, special paints and fabrics made with nanomaterials today.
We still don’t have permanent bases on Mars (yet we already have a small fleet of satellites and robots around and on the planet), but that’s the plan for the next 20-40 years according to NASA.
My laptop is probably more powerful than the combined global computational power in the 1950’s, I mean just think about it.
Back in the mid 90s I was amazed at games like Doom, only playable on big chunky home pc’s… now you can play it on your ipod alone.
There have been 4 space tourists already, tracking and navigational devices only seen in James Bond movies from the 60’s are now commonplace, like cellphones.

Fact is, we are all time travellers. Whether you like it or not :p

That’s how much of the world I’ve visited so far, only 4%.
I still have a long way to go and not a chance of giving up.

Main objectives for 07:

  • Get Hardkohr.com up and running
  • Start online image bank
  • Explore and photograph Japan or New Zealand and Canada
  • Get SCUBA certification
  • Climb again
  • Get a job at a travel magazine
  • Upgrade my camera

Thanks to all my friends near and far, you are all family to me.
May the odds be on your side.
Happiness, success and thousands of miles of travel for all of you in 2007.

Sayonara, 2006.
